mum2boys
One of my hybrids has stopped laying... she's been a bit intermittant if you like for 2-3-4 weeks... but as of last thursday.. no eggs... I am pretty sure which chicken is not laying but not 100% sure... They are 1 yr old. is this normal for hybrids? I understood that they usually "normally" laid pretty much 24/25 eggs in a row with a possible break of a day and then start again.. I am adding poultry spice to their pellets.. should I be doing anything else? They all look quite happy, with bright red combs etc... thanks
moochoo
Concidering the cold snap she might be starting to moult. They'll stop laying whilst they do this. It might just be the effect of short, cold days. If she is otherwise well I wouldn't worry too much. She'll come back into lay when she's ready. cordelia
i wouldnt worry unduly, and see how she is in a week....if she looks ok, perhaps she's having a rest...if she starts to look unwell, then have her looked at... Im sure someone will suggest worming... as you say she looks fine, check she isnt gettting too many treats, and see what happens best of luck, and hope she starts again soon for you... mum2boys
ok.. that's fine darn.... that means less eggs for us friend is "buying" 6-12 eggs a week off us which pays for the chicken's food.... guess I can't not feed them....
