Larkspurs
Well it’s been just over three weeks since our chickens Posh and Pecks arrived from Omlet both seem to have settled in very well. It feels like we had them for years, they are just coming upto 19 weeks old and their wattles are just begin to turn red! Is this the sort of progress you would expect to see? Chickvic
That's a great pic! Yes their wattles go red and get bigger as does their comb. They also go red in the face. Are they crouching at all?
Larkspurs
thanks! Well, they don't crouch when we approach them or anything. They do crouch when we go to stroke them but I think that's for another reason maybe? Probably unsure about this big giant hand coming down at them! Re: coming in to lay, is that normally a definate at x weeks old? Or a definate maybe?
Chickvic
Definite maybe If they crouch when you go to stroke them that means they are reaching maturity and should start laying eggs in a few weeks. You may not have much longer to go! I only waited 3 weeks for Opal to start although Ruby was younger so took a bit longer.
