Bald bums!

Recommended Posts

My 8 have all got bare bums at the moment. Happend the first snowy day when they wouldn't come out. They pull each others feathers out. Mine always happen when they are in the dust bath as they get quite spaced out and relaxed, then they sneak up on each other and start pulling. I have just sprayed mine with gentian violet to try and stop them a bit, now they have bright purple bums.

Have just found my pepperpot pearl has a bare bottom not red though. Isnt it just the moult ??? The others are not pecking at her as its underneath and you can only see it when bottoms are in the air feeding, have also put this notice on the site "mucky bum". I have been reading a couple of books I bought when I got the girls but one says moult starts at the neck and travels along the back ,underneath last , also not laying, which isnt what is happening to pearl and the other says gradual stopping of eggs and chicken out of sorts maybe alittle aggresive, which is also not happening :wall:

I have been scanning the site for any other problems with bald bots and there seems to be a question about hemcore or auboise. I have just got a new walk in run and have put a bag of auboise in the run, making a two to three inch layer ,they used to have a cube run and extension which had chip bark and thin layer of auboise. Has anyone else used this with problems? :vom:
