how long should i keep my 2 new chickens seperate from my old ones. they are in the same run but divided by wire. they shared the eglu house last night for the 1st time.

difficult one to answer this as there are so many schools of thought.

 

the last few we introduced we put in the run on the day we got them whilst the oldies free ranged and then put in the cube with the others when they went to bed and haven't been separated at all since. we didn't have any fights in any shape or form. I guess it all depends on how how well they get on. try them tomorrow without the separation but keep an eye on them to make sure there isn't any overly aggressive fighting.

Hi Sugarspice, not tried it myself but the successful introductions seem to be keep them apart in the run for 1-2 weeks. There is a thread in the FAQ sections about introductions.
