worried about oven ready :(

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This morning I went down with all the leftovers for my chooks and have seen that oven ready is not her usual self, she is larthergic, she is eating but sort of slow motion. For the past 2 nights she has been sitting in the bantams coop and everytime ive had to pick her up she has a very bloated belly/underneath. Could she be egg bound and will she be ok

Hello. Interesting name for a Chicken... Oven Ready!

As you will probably see from my Thread, our Chicken Snowflake has been very unwell over the weekend. It's up to you whether you take her to a Vet, we chose not to.

Saturday morning she seemed on Deaths Door, she spent all day in our house in the pet carrier, she couldnt stand up, though she tried desparately to move about in frustration. She never pooped all day Saturday though she took food and water. Sunday she picked up, started pooping again, and this morning she is outside with the other Chickens again, and we havent a clue what the problem was.

We still havent a clue what was wrong, but provide warmth and comfort for her, ensure she is fed and hydrated, and she should pick up soon.

Keep us posted.

If she is bloated underneath, she may have peritonitis. The other symptoms you describe would fit with this too.

Is that fatal??

She is eating and drinking and walking around occationally stopping for a snooze

I hope she picks up and I'm glad snowflakes ok : )

Thanks ill keep you posted
