Omleteers in the Nottingham area

Recommended Posts

Hi

We are in Nottingham and have an eglu and a cube and 8 chickens including a trio of bantam gold silkies. We had a trial run of incubating some hybrids last year, so with that experience, we are ready to try incubating some silkies this year, just as soon as laying steadies up.

If you are interested in silkies you are very welcome to come and have a look. They're really funny and are something of a change from the usual - though Rupert the cockerel can be a bit protective. It has to be said of course, silkies are less reliable at egg production than hybrids.

We have been through most health problems and so are pretty clued up about prevention now, which happily means having to resort to cure less frequently. We are always willing to offer an opinion if people are having problems with their own birds.

We like to use organic feed for all our chickens and try to keep costs down by sharing with a small band of like minded keepers around here.

Regards

David

I'm originally from Hucknall, Mum and Dad still live there. I would love to see some Silkies in the flesh and some chicks :D

Can I come for a chicken fix when I am visiting my family? Not sure when I will next be down south, hopefully Easter time if I can get time off work or maybe August.

sure, just let me know when, weekends are the only time really.

i think as there seem to be quite a few with eglus around here, that we might have to organise a regular get together.

what do people think?

with kind regards

david
