freespiritbutterfly
I have recently noticed Hebe is missing some feathers on her head, legs and back. Theres not huge amounts of feathers missing just small tuffs if you like really. I let them out in the mornings and go staright to work/college and don't get back till their in bed so i haven't been able to tell if Florence and Autumn are ganging up on her. But today im off because of half term and noticed that Autumn looked like she was trying to peck at Hebe when i went out to see she stopped. Is this natural to happen or do i need to separate them or something? They all seem fine in themselves i'm just worried that Hebe isn't happy. Can anyone help please. Thanks in advance for any help. moochoo
As long as she isn't missing big clumps of feathers I wouldn't worry too much. It's just the natural pecking order going on. As long as Hebe is well in herself I'd just keep an eye on it for now. (((waves))) to a fellow Brummie
chelsea
I would perhaps give the hens the once over for lice just incase one hen isnt picking lice off the other. Could be as above - just a habit of pecking Hebe... Keep an eye on the pecker, if it draws blood you may have problems. If you have some purple spray handy you could spray a bit on the affected area just to prevent any further problems/injury
