Guest
I've just received an e-mail from a friend with a link to a petition about seal hunting/clubbing. I can't believe that this horrible practice still goes on and am just so sad It's not the killing of seals that upsets me. I'm not a vegetarian after all, but what does upset me is the way in which they are killed. Not all seal hunters are efficient or skilled enough to ensure that death takes place swiftly, or at all, before the skinning takes place. I've also read about the crys of the helpless mothers of the seal pups as they watch their pups beaten to death. I remember this being an issue when i was a kid, I'm 39 this year! Why is it still allowed to go on??? if anyone is interested in speaking out, here's the link. If you don't want to because it's PETA then fine, it's up to you but I'd rather not start a debate about the whys and wherefores of PETA if that's okay, this is about the seals. cheers
Redwing
Some things manage to persevere no matter what don't they? I also remember reading about this as a kid and also whale hunting I know these people have a living to make but its all so terribly sad
Guest
I have to say, if the same thing went on in this country and a bloke with a club went into a field and beat a lamb over the head in front of its mother, I'd become a vegetarian in a heart beat! It's the brutal and cruel way they're killed that I can't bear to think about.
chelsea
It's the brutal and cruel way they're killed that I can't bear to think about. I will never forget a picture that was once on the front page of a tabloid of a little pup with those gorgeous eyes looking up at a "clubber"....I think I was very young back then. I cant believe in the 21st century these barbaric practices still are allowed to be carried out....I dont know sometimes I get really disheartened and upset at the way we are destroying this world and all the nature and wildlife in it. chelsea
205,000 seals in one year...
Ana's flock
What makes it worse in my opinion is that they're not killed by an Eskimo to feed their family but for some commercial corporation for their fur, for some idiot woman to wear it (as if there wasn't a fantastic range of fake furs or any other way to keep oneself warm!) Apologies to any of you who might wear real furs but I think that's just really sick
chelsea
was just about to settle down and watch Billy Connolly on his adventure and ITV have given an announcement the programme contains seal hunting! not going to bother now. Can I not watch and enjoy a programme without a death of an animal !

Think it will be seal hunting for food/clothing which of course isnt the cruel seal hunt we've been talking about......thank goodness.
