maggiesfarm
Me again. Last weekend my neighbour's terrier attacked my hens and managed to rag about my Light Sussex hen. She's ok, back to her normal noisy self, laying and eating and free ranging but I've noticed that her comb has gone all floppy and sort of collapsed on the top of her head, is this normal after a shock ? And a bit more advice please, what sort of things do you put in the run to amuse the ladies, mine have a fantastic new run made by my wonderful husband, they have a small ladder to perch and climb on, a log, a dust bath, a cd to peck and various greens to peck on, cabbage, broccoli, is there anything else they could have Thanks in advance. Ain't Nobody Here
Sorry to hear about your poor girl . Is there no damage to her comb? If not, maybe you're right & the floppy comb is just a reaction to the shock? I know some combs go floppy occasionally (usually through dehydration, I think?) but never heard of it after an attack. If she looks/behaves OK I suppose you can just assume she is OK ? Re hentertainment, it sounds like you've got it covered . The only other thing I can think of is a dog's treat ball filled with goodies (I've got one but never remember to put it in ). They like playing chicken football with it apparently .
