Single hen

The chickens had a lovely day today, as did we, the weather was gorgeous and they were out for most of the day having a dig around the grass and eating it and then when I put them back in the run they looked so sweet as they were rolling round, flapping having a dustbath in the aubiose and preening themselves - first time I have seen them do it.

 

They then all say down and relaxed by the door - looked really happy.

 

The fact that I have actually made them a dustbath that they arent using, with sand and compost I am choosing to ignore!

 

I am also trying to forget the fact that I have a long wait til they lay!

I agree they do look cute dustbathing. When mine are really loving it, they almost make a purring noise and close their eyes with pleasure. V funny.

 

Don't worry about them ignoring your dustbath, it is good to have one in the run for when they can't free range.

oh yes my 3 were doing that last weekend when the sun was shining into the stable they were all making really sweet noises bless them it was so lovely to watch. so cute they were so happy
