How old are hens before they get full size combs and wattles or does it depend on breed?

 

Ours only have little ones, they are POL and shopuld start laying soon, red faces thats all so far ! children keep asking me these questions and I dont know so hope someone out there does got to keep up the appearance of mum knows best etc etc

I would say any time between 23 and 30 weeks old. It depends very much on time of year, breed of hen and the individual. Most hybrids will be laying by 30 weeks old any time of year. Hope that helps.
