TAJ
My OH suggested today, as we will soon have a spare eglu, that we could rent it out (with chickens) to those wanting to 'try before they buy' he thinks we could set up the eglu in someone's garden, give them the intro hen party talk and leave them with a couple of chickens for a week to see how they get on. Does anyone think this idea would be of interest to any potential new commers - it's like an extended hen party at your own house, perhaps to convince the family chickens are a good idea. Has potential or a completely daft idea? Tracy
Chickvic
My only concern would be if you could trust someone with the chickens. I love my girls and find it hard when we go on holiday for a week and let family members look after them I think it's a good idea though I've confused myself. Hen Watch
From a "service to new keepers" point of view - it sounds like a good idea to me. I guess anyone wanting to hire and pay for them for a week is going to do their best and be enthusiastic to look after them well for that period. But what about the stress for the birds in different environments? Would that be an issue or perhaps not if the birds are rotated and only go off "on hire" every few months or so????
