Joining Eglu + run to Eglu + run for broody and intergration

Recommended Posts

Similar to the eglu cube on the other thread, I am wondering if I can join my eglu + extended run to another eglu + extended run in order to have a secure seperate but intergrated area to broody raise some chicks, with the plan to re-intergrate them all together when old enough. Could this work? If it could, the plan would be to then just remove the middle partition panel to create one long tube with an eglu at either end, and if it didn't, I'd have two identical eglus for lots of space for everyone.

The feeders would be put near the eglus so they could be accessed easily.

(I am hoping to get a walk in run made, so this would be temporary. I have already adapted my current run slightly so would be looking to adapt it enough to create a doorway somewhere to free-range everyone too between now and then)

If it factors in at all, we have no foxes or badgers on the island, so i can potentially do something like open an eglu door and remove the cover to provide freerange access or something without fear of injury etc, the local cats have already learnt to fear my light sussex!
