First-time worming - should I see something in droppings??

Recommended Posts

I have had my four lovely chickens for 4 weeks now and thought I should probably worm them. I bought some Verm-X pellets and have been mixing it with a small amount of porridge oats and warm water for the last 4 mornings. Wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do but they certainly wolf it down.

Thing is - I'm just not sure what I should be looking for to know if its done the job. Also, does it kill the worms? If it doesn't isn't it possible they might eat them again. :vom: Yuk!

Hopefully you won't see anything.

I have personally never used Verm-X so I can't comment on it. I use Flubenvet.

I'd had 10 months before I first thought of worming them and I did see dead worms after in their poo but I'd left it a bit late and that was probably why. But since then, with each worming session I've never seen any others. And I ensure that I worm them routinely every 3/4 months to keep it that way.
