Medi-Bed (dengie)

Recommended Posts

I have been all over for my chicken supplies then today realised that there was Marriages on my doorstep ( ) which has LOADS of good stuff!

They dont have Aubiose (which I have been using) but do have MediBed by Dengie.

I wondered what people think of this and if its worth me trying once my aubiose has run out.

I can still get aubiose but its a 35min drive.

Thanks

Michelle

I've used it. (Got mine initially from Upsons in Hatfield Peverel until I descovered the Marriages store down the road from me! )

I like it. My girls like it. Some people don't like to use straw as the 'tubes' could hide redmite but as long as you regularly dust with diatom and clean as normal I don't see the problem. Being medicated it keeps flies low (a little bit, not so much in the damp summer we had last year) and tastes bitter so your girls shouldn't eat it - another straw related worry.

I'm on hemcore at the moment - part of my 'try a new bale of a different bedding every time I run out' trial. Like that too, maybe a little better than medi-bed. It soaks up poos really well. It has citronella oil in it to stop flies (Although must be used in a covered run as it is very absorbent)

Both of the above compost really well too.

next bedding on my list to try is easi-bed (Small wood chippings) although I think it may be like the wood shavings i used... take forever to compost.
