JB09
Hi All, It is my first night with my new chickens, it is dark now and they have not gone into the eglu! Did anyone have a similar problem... shall I usher them in or wait to see if they go in by themselves? One chicken seems a bit anxious and the other is laying down! moomin
Try putting a torch in the Eglu, then remove it through the eggport when they've gone in. They are attracted to the light. Failing that you may have to crawl into the run and pop them inside
Egluntyne
I've guided new girls in with a broom before now.
TAJ
Put a torch in the eglu through the eggport door - if they were like my last new ones in the eglu they followed each other in after 5 mins (I wasn't so lucky with the cube and had to get in the run and put them to bed). Littlemisshappy
I have moved mine in with a broom too! My newest edition took a few days to work out night=sleep. I had to pick her up and place her in the house myself!
fog_horn_leghorn
lol, glad I read this topic. I get my three tomorrow. I put up the Eglu tonight! Phil
Guest
yep a lot of folks seem to have great fun on their hands and knees posting chickens into their new accomodation I have only had ducks and geese and its the same with them..the geese due to size were chased around the blooming garden at least these will be a bit contained.. indie
Sky
Yes, 2 weeks ago I was on my hands and knees in the dark pushing 5 chickens up ladders. It only happened once though and apart from having to help 4 out of 5 down the following morning they have managed it all themselves ever since
ted
When we got ours in January they all went in apart from daft George... She stayed out all night. We put a blanket over and dust sheets and she was fine in the morning but we didnt get any sleep...
