chickenaddiction Posted March 23, 2009 Share Posted March 23, 2009 hi , ive been wanting to keep chickens for ages the rest of my family aint that keen. My partner and children 18 and 16 just turn their noses up and having been telling me we havent the room , they smell , the cats of which i have 4 will eat them etc . So in true me style i ordrered my eglu on friday and it arrives a week today soooooo excited ive bored everyone with the news and was breifly tempted to give my partner a chicken tattoo (im a tattooist/ hairdresser) . im now surfing the net for fencing materials as we need a new fence around our small back garden . Its been needing replacement for the last 8 years and as ive ordered the chickens etc it has to be in place by next monday. My partner is a builder (dont even statr me on how many jobs he needs to do to the house !) so he with the help of my yougest will be fencing this week , eldest kid is sunnying himself in the costa del sol and texts me regularly lol im sure he thinks ive lost the plot ! So after years of wanting chickens and needing a new fence it looks like im going to get both in a week whey hey . mmmm maybe i shouldnt count my chickens before they hatch .... rachel x Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Olly Posted March 23, 2009 Share Posted March 23, 2009 Welcome to the forum, you won't regret your decision, and your OH and children will probably be smitten by the chickens in no time! Good idea to get the fence fixed, it will stop them straying, but do watch out for predators - even a 6' fence will not stop a fox from getting over. Oh, and don't worry about the cats ...
