I went to a travellers' fair and John Simpson was a brilliant speaker there talking about how this mini series was made. The Idea is that he, Ran Fiennes and Robin Knox-Johnston take each other into their worlds. The first one kicks off in Afghanistan where John Simpson will teach adventurers Ranulph Fiennes and Robin Knox-Johnston to file news reports from a war-zone Fiennes will lead Knox-Johnston and Simpson in a week-long trek to the North Pole, testing their endurance in temperatures as low as minus 50C.
