MrsMurphy
It felt rather decadent but, all chores completed, I sloped off to the cinema at 10 this morning. Go see the film "Snow Cake". It is beautiful, sad, uplifting and thought provoking. I cried the whole way through (and also smiled a lot).
Mel (& Paul)
How lovely - going to the cinema during the day when others are at work is a real treat isnt it What's snow cake about?
MrsMurphy
I love daytime movie-going. We have a great 80-seat all digital cinema up the road which shows quite a few foreign films and the more art-housey ones as well as the occasional blockbuster. I don't want to spoil things, but in brief, Alex has issues. He is in a car accident and ends up at Lynda's house. She is a high-functioning autistic woman in a snowy Canadian town. It is about the bond that grows between them and the different ways in which they deal with tragedy.
Cate in NZ
Thanks for that. I've watched a couple of interviews with Sigourney Weaver promoting the film and I have to say that I think it sounds interesting. I think that it might be a slope off and watch alone film for me too- there's no way hubby would sit through anything involving emotions, issues or Kleenex
Mrs Frugal
Sounds pretty grim but I suppose it could be worse - Tony Blair might still be Prime Minister... Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!
Guest
I read the book - Children of Men - several years ago. It is definitely thought-provoking and given the circumstances (barren women) the consequence of finding a fertile woman is believable. I'#d go to see it out of interest.
