Billy the Whippet
My brother has five hens - a fairly new white one, introduced late last year, has taken to plucking feathers from the other four hens - no injuries - just plucking them to the point of baldness. Any ideas what he can do do stop this - the white hen is under threat of despatch
ted
you can get anti peck spray which may help...(there are different makes which have a range of nasty smells) Also if they are in the run a lot then hang stuff up to distract them. If it doesnt get any better you can fit a device to the offender which stops them damaging the others...
quickcluck
Yup. the spray is Ukadex or you can fit a bumper bit to the offender!
Groovychook
A bumpa bit should solve the problem!

Billy the Whippet
Thanks for the replies - where can he get a bumpa bit and the spray from?
quickcluck
Bumper bits come from the wernlas collection www.wernlas.com You send an SAE with postage stamps in to cover the cost of them I think they are about 10-15p each..... You can get Ukadex from http://www.pandtpoultry.co.uk/index.php/fuseaction/shop.product/categoryid/18/productid/871 Or try an anti bite spray from a pet shop, but I'm not sure how effective it is... Good luck
