4 Ingredients Fruit Cake

Being the victim of advertising that I am, I bought a copy of the book 4 Ingredients after hearing the authors being interviewed on the Chris Evan's show on Radio 2.

 

Yesterday I tried the fruit cake recipe and was really disappointed with the way it turned out. The cake is heavy and quite stodgy and I wonder if it has anything to do with the length of time I soaked the fruit for (a bit longer than was suggested), whether I added too much liquid, perhaps I didn't cook it for long enough or MAYBE perhaps it is just one of those recipes that just doesn't do it for me! Has anyone tried this recipe and if so what did you think of it?
