chicken crazy Posted April 14, 2009 Share Posted April 14, 2009 Can anyone suggest how I can move my broody chicken out of the nest box. We tried to get her out but she just pecked my boyfriend! Opps !!! I'm at work all day and have another hen. So I can't keep an eye on her. I also have another hen and not sure if she will stop laying too. Any advice please!! Janty Posted April 15, 2009 Share Posted April 15, 2009 Delia pecks us when she's broody. You'll just have to go for it and lift her out. Wear a pair of gloves. That should reduce the impact a bit. Janty Posted April 15, 2009 Share Posted April 15, 2009 Sorry, it's early and I was speed reading. Your broody hen will put the other one off laying if you don't separate them. With only having two, make sure that they can see each other though. Put the broody into something like a rabbit run but don't give her any materials that she can nest into. You have to be quite hard with them and as the weather isn't too bad she will need to have her front dunked into very cold water to reduce the heat in her chest. It is strange though. I have no problems isolating my broody chickens except for Mrs. Beeton. I always feel so guilty when it's her, daft woman that I am. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
