chicken crazy
Can anyone suggest how I can move my broody chicken out of the nest box. We tried to get her out but she just pecked my boyfriend! Opps !!! I'm at work all day and have another hen. So I can't keep an eye on her. I also have another hen and not sure if she will stop laying too. Any advice please!! chelsea
Dont let her bully you! I find with my broody girls (because they are broody sooo much), they like to test my patience so I try to be forceful (in a nice way) and I show them who's boss! The idea is to try and cool the hen down underneath, making a broody cage is a good idea and some people have had success quite quickly. Ideally the broody cage needs to have a mesh bottom/bottom (ie - like a dog crate) which allows air to circulate underneath the hens undercarriage to cool her down and snap her out of her broodiness. You will need to attach/put food and water in the broody pen. You could possibly do this when you are home on the weekend? In the meantime turf her off of the nest as much as possible, block off the nest box at night and if you see her sitting/moping in the garden trying to be broody make her get up! Good luck
