Phosphorus
So excited - Gemma is sitting tight to anyone's eggs she can get her hands on in the (really must think of a name for this). Going to move her to the tonight when it is dark with a few eggs So so excited. 6 eggs arriving by post, should get to me tomorrow - hoping to squeeze them under Gemma on Saturday (or Friday if I can't wait that long ). I have a mix of Black Araucana and Black and Red Araucana large fowl eggs arriving to set. Please let the weather last reasonably - don't want her going off the boil
Solopuff
How exciting! Lucky you finding red black Aracauna eggs. I lost my 4 year old red black Aracauna from a crop problem a few weeks ago and when my CLB went broody thought I'd try and hatch some as Aracaunas are such great characters. I couldn't find any red blacks but have 3 lavender LF Aracauna, 4 LF gold silkie and 2 CLB 'cooking' now, due in 2 weeks. I can't wait. Good luck with yours

feemcg
Good idea to make sure she will sit somewhere else....my KT has been sitting in the purple eglu nest for about 10 days....where most of the other hens lay. At the weekend I thought I might let her hatch so set up the pink eglu and run, with some eggs in the nest to see if she would stay on them for another couple of days, then I was going to get some fertile ones. She would not sit in the pink eglu at all, but each time I let her out the pink eglu run she sprints for the purple eglu and straight back onto the nest there. So I've given up, she's going back in the 'cooler' tomorrow.

Maybe that makes the decision for me though - I was going to arrange the netting so that she could mix with the other girls when she did come out, as she did this when broody last year. That would mean she would have access to the though. Might just keep her locked in the eglu run for a few days and see We shall see tonight.
