katieD Posted April 30, 2009 Share Posted April 30, 2009 hi ive just discovered that my chickens have lice ive read all the info on the health section so know what i need to go and buy tomorrow, but ive just rescued a 2 day old chick (bantam) that i will either keep or rehome- not sure yet and when looking at it today notices it had little things crawling round on it head- poor thing! they look quite a bit smaller than the lice on my other chickens and was wondering if they could be lice too? if so how do i treat them on such a young chick? help please! its making me scratch just thinking about it! thanks Katie x Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
kitchens Posted April 30, 2009 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Sure is not red mite? Either/or get the dusting powder out. Poor little thing. Is she living under a heat lamp or with a broody. The recommended treatment seems to be pyrethrum based products, so Johnson's Anti Mite spray should be OK. *Not licensed for use on Poultry in UK Where did you rescue it from?
