katieadams
I've just seen outside on the garden path two tiny tiny little red spider mites - are these the little blighters that upset our chickens so? I've not seen any in or around their house, but haven't been using red mite powder yet as I only discovered you could use it as prevention a few days ago and I'd not seen anything suspicious - do I need to dash to the pet shop and douse them in powder immediately?? I'm itching like mad at the thought of it!!!
Egluntyne
No...they are completely different. Breathe easy. Red Mite come out at night to feed on the hens. They live in nooks and crannies in wood.
katieadams
Phew thanks I thought they were nocturnal, just when I looked up red spider mites I found the same image used for them and for red mites on chickens so I got a bit worried! Think I'll buy some powder anyway, but at least I don't have to panic buy now!!
