willg
Hi I have decided to rescue a few Ex batts and am building the run... I will be buying a Coop. However how high should the perimeter fence be to stop them jumping out. Thanks in anticipation
Hen Watch
My garden has 6ft fence panels which my lot can't get over. But there are some holes underneath the panels which I have had to block up to stop them getting under. But their main enclosure on the lawn is 4ft Omlet netting. Some flighty hen breeds may get over that, but my 2 year old hybrids don't. Not unless I leave a convenient launch pad too near the netting, like a garden chair or compost bin. Budgies
Is the fencing to keep them in a place where they will be out and about unsupervised? Because if so, it's more the likelihood of a fox getting in rather than the chooks getting out that would be the issue. I think most chickens could get out of anything that was lower than 4-5 feet high, but Mr Fox can scale a 6foot fence in a blink of an eye!
