eggalp
About 6 weeks ago i came home with two new new chickens. Since then one of my originals has laid a softee almost every day. She is about 18 months old and has never given us a softee before - could she be upset by the new hens? They are still living in different runs at the moment but do free range together every day. At first i wasn't concerned as i thought she may be just sulking - but its almost 6 weeks now and nearly every morning when i check the poo tray there is a softee in there that has gone through the bars. They have got access to plenty of grit, but im off to the pet shop this lunchtime to try and get some limestone flour - is there anything else i could give her? thanks for any suggestions! Egluntyne
Limestone flour is a good idea. A bit of codliver oil witll aslo help with calcium metabolism by providing Vit D3. What sort of grit ar e you using? Mixed Poultry Grit will provide calcium in the form of bits of seashell. Plain flint grit doesn't provide any calcium at all.
