daj198
Hi Guys Found this in the nestbox today. Any idea what it is? It's soft like a piece of meat... all a little bit disturbing. Here's a photo And here's one of it turned upside-down Btw, it's a lot smaller than an egg. The size of a 50p.
Guest
it's an undeveloped egg, basically a lump of protein. Have you got an older chicken?
Egluntyne
It is what is known as a 'lash'. More info on **this thread**
daj198
Ah, that makes sense, thanks. I started worrying that it was an ovary that they has laid as it seemed to have blood vessels on the inside... Agnes is over three now, maybe it was her. Sorry to not have replied earlier, I wasn't notified of the replies by the forum. Strange...
Budgies
Ah, that makes sense, thanks. I started worrying that it was an ovary that they has laid Nope, you're safe there! They only have one ovary anyway. Is she back to laying properly again?
daj198
Is she back to laying properly again? Hahahaha! We haven't had an egg in weeks... from either of them. We're getting a soft one every day though, despite the expensive exbat feed. One ovary, eh? How fascinating... maybe I should switch back to thinking of doing Veterinary Medicine rather than normal Medicine
