Tweety
Are your hens displaying any signs of being ill? 9 softies is quite a lot - do you give them any supplements such as limestone flour? Have you tried them on any other brand of food, or given them mash instead of pellets? My hens find mash irresistible, whereas they are not bothered about pellets, so it may be worth getting a small bag of mash to try, and adding some limestone flour to try to sort out the softies. buffie
It sounds as if they need a bit of tough love, no treats. It's like being offered cakes and sweets and filling up on those when you need a balanced diet You are quite right they need their balanced 'feed' or rations before anything else and I'd see how you get on with a tougher regime. A good feed shouldn't need a lot of supplement. So my suggestion is no treats and see how they go, reintroduce a little but late in the day only when they eat their proper diet. Hope this helps Buffie x
Egluntyne
Could you have had nocturnal visitors earlier, who were helping themselves do you think? I agree with the tough love stance. Don't give in!
