tobybeevers
Can anyone help? I have had a poorly girl recently and after visiting Omlet and get some great advice she is now well on the mend, so thanks to all. I have today tried to re introduce her back with the other 3 hens in the run, with in 20 mins I have had to remove her again as she has been peck at and is now bleeding all around her comb. We left her outside in the garden with the other hens still in the coop, one has escaped this afternoon and had another peck at her. She seems OK but obviously has a very sore head now, so we will bring her in again tonight. What should i do next? How do I go about re introducting her? Budgies
It sounds as though they've completely forgotten her and I guess re-introduction will have to be done in the same way as introducing new hens. The link below will take you to a thread on this subject. viewtopic.php?f=42&t=25886 In the meantime you'll need to disguise her wound - any sign of blood will make the other birds peck at her more. Some people use purple spray but my vet suggested blue food colouring could be applied to a wound to disguise it just as well. Cheaper too!!
