Melon query please!

Recommended Posts

I have a raised bed in my greenhouse, full of compost, and am growing tomatoes, peppers, chillis, cucumber and melon. It is all planted out and everything is growing well, I've just started feeding the bed with tomato food as I realise it is rather overstocked!

However my two melon plants are suffering. The smallest plant went limp first, but I thought it was recovering. Now the second plant has started to turn pale and go limp. They are only small still, with only 4 leaves each. When I dug into the soil at their roots, the stem below soil level appears to have gone a bit brown and mushy and there were a couple of little white grubs in the soil.

I had a greenhouse years ago with an ex, and he grew melons successfully and I cannot recall them needing any treatment different from the toms and cucumbers. Anyone have any ideas?? :?
