Chucky Mama
I have only just caught up with this thread and just thought I'd add that Parsley is a natural diuretic (quite strong) - may be useful? - very cheap and easy to source

Hen Watch
Any updates? Well....... jury is still out. Henny is getting swollen abdomen on and off now. She initially responded well to the diuretic stuff. Swelling disappeared for a while. Then it came back again and the diuretics didn't touch it. So I stopped giving it all together. She was very swollen but apart from that her usual chicken self. So I didn't do anything for a week. Then I reconsidered, as she was still swollen, and I gave her mega doses of diuretic for 3 days and now she is ok again. She will only take the diuretic on soggy bread though. I don't know if the diuretics help or not. Also not sure if this is just what happens in a sort of a cycle of swelling then not.???? So still can't say if the diuretics work or not for sure. Henny and Stella no longer lay so they are definately in the menopause/retirement phase.
tooties
mine initially didn't want to eat anything with it on either, but I ended up giving them big bowls of pellet porridge with grapes and mealworms in for a few days. That tempted them to eat some of it, then i guess they got used to the taste. However, it didn't seem to make any difference for the one thats already swollen up, so I must admit I stopped giving it to them. Although I may as well finish the bottle now I have it I guess - it can't do any harm!!
