AJH101
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of Eglus or Cubes being stolen? The best place for ours would be behind the hedge in our front garden. Should I be worried about security? Andrew
Cinnamon
Hmmmmmm I would mark it with one of those pen things & get a green one which is less obvious. Is there any way of lashing it to a tree or anything if you have very great concerns?
Pedro1962
And check your household insurance policy. I checked my policy and it stated that possessions in the garden are only covered up to £500.
Olly
I've heard of chickens being stolen or (sadly) sometimes the door being opened. It might be worth seeing if you can lock the run. I've only heard of one case of an Eglu being stolen, they're quite heavy after all and quite fiddly to dismantle but I guess it's not impossible, there's a good resale value on them after all. You could mark it with a pen etc but I think the worry for me wouldn't be the Eglu going, it would be 'what would happen to the hens'. Any way you can make your front garden more secure? debbier
I had an established tree stolen from my front garden several years ago, which must have entailed someone using a spade to dig it. In a different incident someone broke a branch off an ornamental tree. Since then I'm afraid I've been far less trusting of some people's intentions, so wouldn't personally leave anything in my front unless it was well secured and safe. Incidentally, I do live in a reasonably "nice" area!
