Mrs Slats
Grr Our ex batts have really cut down on their egg production over the last few weeks, generallly since the winter and their last moult really. we are worming them incase it's a parasite problem, plus they get a diet of purely pellets with all the usual aditives thrown in. grit, Oyster Shell, Limestone flour, garlic powder, pultry spice. We also don't give them a great amount of treats or freeranging (foxes). So this morning I am sat there watching our 2 new white Stars in their penned off section, when I hear a tapping from the nest box. I open the door to find Paxo, beak deep in her own egg! It was a lovely egg... till she started scoffing it So I filled it with English Mustard and popped it back in the nest box. Went back an hour later and they've practically scoffed the lot! It's not the first time they have done this, we tried putting the clay eggs in before which seamed to work to some extent... looks like they will have to go back in. It's bad enough that they are barely laying, but to then eat the only decent egg in over a week is just cheaky.
Ain't Nobody Here
How infuriating . Did they like the mustard then ?
Slats
I think so!! They still managed to eat most of the shell mustard and all!! We have now put the china eggs in there again and I am going to make a paste of mustard and Purple spray and see how that goes. It is sad to think we may have to go out to buy eggs as we have none to fill
