A Worrying Day.

Recommended Posts

Primrose has put years on me today. I knew the second I saw her this morning she wasn't feeling well. When I opened the coop door instead of joining in the charge of the light brigade out the door and to the food she stood back with her eyes closed. She pottered out stiffly and I picked her up to give her the once over. Her crop was soft but not empty so I massaged it anyway, there was nothing visibly wrong. I put her down and after a few sips of water she plonked herself down under a bush. I put some vitamin drops on a small piece of bread and she ate that but spent all morning fluffed up, eyes shut and looking miserable. I kept checking on her and at lunch time she'd moved to perch on a low branch under another bush. Underneath where she was perched was a shell-less egg so I guessed that was what was bothering her and hoped she'd perk up since it had now gone.

Now she's totally back to normal and has joined the rest of the gang in their search for worms :D I am so relieved that it was just an egg that was wrong with her. Noisy Violet & Freya went to their new home yesterday and I was dreading something more serious and infectious being wrong because that meant they might've taken it with them to infect their new flock. The girls normally share a piece of fruit or veg every afternoon but treats are being withdrawn for a few days to help Primroses laying tackle get back in order.

Phew!
