alyb
Martha the welsummer laid an egg today - she's not laid any for around 3 weeks. Was getting worried she was egg bound or laying internally - saw some horrific photos of this on another forum But could she have been broody but just not sitting in the nest box . She had been sitting in the run quite a bit - thought it was just with the warmer weather - and she has been eating and drinking. In the last couple of days she has been a bit more active and was up and down the ladder to the nest box like a yo-yo today before she laid today. Ain't Nobody Here
It doesn't sound like it, tbh . Broody signs are hard to miss - they tend to fluff themselves up and peck & growl at you if you try to move them. If she lays well from now on, you'll just have to put it down to "one of those things" .
alyb
Thanks for the reply - hopefully it is just a blip - maybe she just likes making me wait for her lovely dark brown eggs - little madam
