Hello all, I wondered if anyone could help me with a query. I have 5, 5-week old chicks who have just started to go outside and eat anyhing and everything they can lay their beaks on. I'm feeding them on chick crumbs at the moment but wondered if I should also be feeding them on grit as well? Anyone got any thoughts?

You can buy chick grit and leave some of that in a bowl for them.

 

My baby Brahmas are four weeks old, living outside with their mum and almost from day one they've been helping themselves to her corn that's got bits of grit in

I remember reading a wesite about raising chicks with a broody that was recomended on here and they said that they ad chick grit at day 3.

I would start introducing them to growers pellets. Mix some in with their chick crumb. I get mine onto growers by 6 weeks.
