Chili
I have a light sussex hen that we calculate to be about 2 years and 4 months old. She has always been my best layer, but has always laid very thin shelled eggs regardless of diet or nutritional supplements. Over the last couple of months, her egg tally has started to dwindle and now all we seem to get is the egg but without any sign of a shell - in other words a gooey mess laid in the nest box Has she come to the end of her useful egg laying life already I hope not. Your thoughts would be very much appreciated. Chili x
Egluntyne
It sounds as if she has. ZolcalD, a soluble calcium supplement with added vit D or limestone flour and cod liver oil (for the vit D for calcium metabolism) might help. Has she any swelling of her abdomen? Is she walking in a wide legged manner?
