Thankyou.

I may take you up on that offer, I am going a course on Sunday through Omlet in Chelmsford to make sure that it what I really want to do, and I would like my husband to come but we don't have any childcare so if its ok with you maybe we could pop in, I think he needs some persuasion in the matter!

I'm waving hello!

I am running a course on Sunday - will be nice to see you!

I get all my girls from hens 4 homes too - its a bit of a trek out to Stebbing but well worth it as Kirsty is lovely! There is a place just round the corner from here too where they have lovely chooks but the bloke is a bit strange.

As for kids - I'm thinking of running another kids hen party in the summer - just havn't got round to sorting it out because I've been kinda busy lately.

Just to pick up on quickcluck's suggestion. I got my 3 chickens from Ben at HenHouse Poultry and they're brilliant. He's got loads of hens and bantams, all in large, airy clean enclosures. You can tell that they're his passion, not just his business and I thoroughly recommend him. If you can drive to him, it's well worth it.

Hello Kathryn, I am quite exciting about coming on your course on Sunday. I do have a couple of concerns so I am hoping that you will be able to put my mind to ease.

Thankyou for the recommendations, its good to know where other people go.

I just bought my girls from Smilers and I like the folk there. It's a different set up to Hen House etc. and some people mentioned to me that they thought other places were better because the chickens were free range, but I have a tiny garden and for the moment the girls will live on woodchip - I'd have had very disappointed girls if they'd gone from field to woodchip! I went there nearly a dozen times at different times of the day and days of the weeks and it's always clean and the people helpful and friendly. My last doubts were calmed by a friend, who got her girls from Happy Hens, but thought Smilers just as good in their own way...

PS your hubbie will come round; my boyf was supportive but definate on it being "my thing" until the girls arrived. Now he can be found sat by the coop 3-4 times an evening chatting away to them; he puts them to bed, "protects" them from the kitten (who wouldn't stand a chance, the girls are twice her size!!) and seems very taken with them!
