When is a smelly egg...really smelly??...

Recommended Posts

well 3 of the 4 eggs have hatched and are lovely fluffy bundles...

But the really thick blue egg, that we have been unable to candle is left...

I have a quick look at it and as I was trying to have a listen, I noticed a little eggy smell...

Now does the eggy smell mean its rotten or is it just a smelly egg??

I really dont want to leave it in there if its likely to explode...as the others are all healthy

anyone?? :?:

I don't know, but I was watching an old chap check his eggs when they were a couple of days late - he shook them gently and you could hear a distinct sloshing sound from the ones that were 'off' Not sure I'd like to try it though in case it did explode :?

ive heard of using the glass of water method...

if it wiggles in a glass of water its a go-er...

If it doesnt its still...

I know the following applys to fresh and bad eggs...

Floats for bad egg....sinks for fresh egg...

But would that also apply to hatching eggs, floating if its a bad egg....sink if its a chickie??
