McChook
Hi all One of my girls has been fairly extensively plucked by the other one and now has a bald ring around her neck, sort of a semi naked-neck, in addition to her total lack of frilly knickers. Whilst she seems generally unflustered by this, I was wondering if I should possibly put some sunscreen on her during this weather? Most of the run is covered by sunshades, but there is a gap where they like to spread out on sunny afternoons. My eldest daughter laughed at the idea and accused me of wanting to baste her! Does anyone have any suggestions or advice please?
Egluntyne
I've got a hen with a similar predicament. The thing that stops me applying factor 50 to her nether reasons is the preening issue. I don't want her to ingest the cream.. She does seem to instinctively seek out the shade, so perhaps if you make sure that your hen can get some respite from the relentless sunshine that we are led to expect, she will be OK.
