alison
My white Sussex used to lay HUGE very oval white eggs weighing about 86 gm, she is now laying smaller light brown/cream eggs that are about 70 gm - any ideas why? Can eggshells change colour, her diet is no different!
Snowy
The larger the egg, the paler it tends to be. What you thought was white, was probably just very pale cream. I have a hen that lays cream eggs, and sometimes they look white. Until I put them next to my campines eggs - now they are very pure white! As they go through the season, their eggs can get larger and paler. After a moult or a break in laying, she will have built up her reserves again and the eggs will be smaller and darker. As the season progresses they will get larger and paler again. In theory
