Heatstroke was getting better...

Recommended Posts

My chicken Penny was a gingernut ranger. She was perfectly happy apart from being egg bound about 3 times. She was looking very peaky so my mum and brother took her to the vets. They said that her temperature was off the top of the thermometer and we had to bring it down immediately. We gave her an iced bath, and put her in our utility room with the back door, the windows open, and a fan on. Her temperature came down, but soon went back up so we did it again. It worked again, and we managed to get some mashed up food pellets into her, she kept it down and went to the loo, which made us believe she was getting better. Only a short time after that she was dead. :cry:

She was getting better.

What made her die?

:evil::cry:

It could have bene high due to an infection, or it might have been the heat, although none of mine have ever been bothered by it.

Chickens have weak hearts, so it might have just been too much for her.

They have a naturally higher temperature though - 105deg.

My 2 most disabled girls are suffering withthe heat, tis devils own job keeping them cool.

So sorry about your loss

As Claret says it could have been eithet or indeed both!

Poor you..# Bless her.

Weak hearts OMG Claret something extra to worry about!!!!
