Ruby Wedding Ideas - Help

Recommended Posts

Hi All

My parents are due to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on 4th October this year and I want to plan something special for them. We don't have a big family so I was thinking of an intimate celebration with just immedaite family which means there would be only 7 of us. We all have a great time when we are together anyway so I'm not worried it will be boring but does anyone have any ideas which could add a special touch. Has anyone recived or bought any gifts that have had the 'wow' factor. I was thinking of getting 'their record' framed which was Hey Jude by the Beatles (which I still have so it was their record) and getting some old cini film of me and my brother put onto DVD.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

It was my inlaws 40th last year.

As majorbloodknock suggested, I bought a 40year old port for FIL came in a lovely presentation box, I just googled vintage port and went from there and for MIL I got the special red (ruby) edition of ipod as she had wanted one for ages, it was engraved on the back free of charge on the official web site. It was a limited edition colour so may not be available now.

It's not a gift as such but for a recent 70th birthday party for my MIL we found an old treasured photo of hers (black and white actually) and had it made into an icing photo and put it on a big cake. It looked lovely and it was actually the highlight of the day. Maybe you could use one of their wedding photos. If you have never done it before it is easy. You email it to the people and they make a thin sheet of icing that looks like a photo. You then set in on top of your cake.

There is a variety of rose called Ruby Wedding....

I bought this rose for my parents' ruby anniversary which was 10 years ago last March. It is beautiful - my dad- a big rose lover always talks to people about it as it is still going strong 10 years on (like them I guess!)

hey there

it was my parents Ruby Wedding anniversary last year, we bought them a Ruby rose "half standard bare root" which now has beautiful roses on it!

we also made a CD for them with a song that they liked from each year for the last 40 years. Hey Jude was on there too!

40 years is really something to celebrate- hope you all have a fantastic time whatever you decide to do!
