I've done something rather silly... I was bidding for some wire fencing to make a WIR on ebay and forgot to add the decimal point, so now my maximum bid is £1495 instead of £14.95.... I've sent the seller a message and told them I don't mind paying the £21.95 I've currently bid and telling him what I did and how silly I was, but I'm really worried now in case more people bid and I end up paying more than I can afford for this wire

Just retract the bid!

 

Its easy - you can do it via your My ebay page or type 'bid retraction' in the help section, where it will give step by step directions, then you can bid again with the dot

The same happens if you type 4,75 instead of 4.75, as I did once: and I didn't want to risk my good name by refusing to pay £475 for a postcard. Knowing my luck, the next bidder would have made exactly the same kind of typing error.

 

You can't rely on people to be nice (although I find that most people on eBay are very nice indeed). Always retract your bid.
