K-F-C
Hiya... I let my 4 hens out at about 6:30 this morning... they all came straight out and had a peck about and some pellets... then after about 5 mins, KiKi, one of the 22wk old Pepperpots went back into the cube and has been sat, crouched, in the nesting box, for the past hour... there is no sign of an egg (she hasn't laid before)... Does this mean that she is 'waiting' to lay? Or is there something else I should be concerned about? Thanks Dave x
xScrunchee
I'd imagine she is just waiting to lay. One of my girls was in the nest box for about 4 hours when she laid her first egg Thankfully she doesn't take that long now but she still sometimes takes a good hour and a half whereas the others are much quicker. Maybe just keep an eye on her but if she is just sitting on the nest and seems ok I would just imagine she is about to lay

K-F-C
You were right! She's back now pecking about with her mates! KiKi has laid her first egg! It's 49g!
