4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I was wondering if anyone could help...

 

This morning I came downstairs to find that Brenda my gingernut ranger had laid a totally shell-less egg in the run. She was sitting on the roosting bars while Audrey the miss pepperpot was on the box, presumably laying. I had to lift Brenda out of the box in the end and put her in the garden otherwise I think she would have sat there all day! She seems okay-ish now but is still walking slowly, standing still alot of the time and closing her eyes and going to sleep standing up! Is it possible the shell is still inside her and causing her pain? Is there anything I can give her to help? She doesn't seem to be drinking or eating an awful lot and when I've taken some mixed pellets over to her has seemed very uninterested.

 

We've had softie eggs before but never totally shell-less ones. We feed them mixed pellets and do occasionally give them crushed up egg shells to increase their calcium intake.

 

Any advice would be great.

Poor little chicken. I presume there was a membrane on the softie? Perhaps she needs to lay another. I find when mine are clear they soon return to normal. If I was you I would pop her back in the nest box where it is quiet and she can lay if she has another softie there.

 

You can try giving her extra calcium by having mixed grit and shell in a pot which you probably already do or give her some calcium and vit D in the form of limestone flour from a horse supply place and codliver oil. In the past I have mushed the pellets with water and then add it and give it in the evening. It has helped mine in the past.
