4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

just bought a bale of hemcore for our 8'x4' run and it doesn't look big enough to cover it. do you think we'll need another bale. if so, then the rest of it can be put in the coop.

My run is about 11ft x 5ft and I use about 1/3 of a bale, sometimes half.

I don't have a very thick layer but I find that if I use tons and the rain gets in making it all stinky-it's more wasteful if I use a whole bale.

My run is 12' x 6' and one bale is ample to provide quite a thick layer. The run is covered, so this lasts for at least one month - sometimes six weeks - depending how much time they've spend freeranging.

It will all be fine, much simpler than it sounds once they are there

yees, it is dsunting. we've still got to finish the run, get the feed/grit and get the poultry shield/diatom.... too much to do before thursday.

Don't worry too much about getting the last few bits before thursday.

 

Poultry shield and diatom can wait a few weeks at least and the layers pellets already contain grit apparently so the extra grit is so that they can top up on extra if they want to. Mine have seperate oyster shell and flint grit however I didn't get it straight away.

Omlet say that all you need to get going is the Eglu, hens and a sack of food.

That will get you started and you can add as many other bits and bobs as you like little by little.

 

So-now just concentrate on finishing the run and you are ready

Edited to say- I just noticed that you need to get their pellets too, so the run and the pellets-then you're ready
