The_Eggsleys
Hi folks, we are quite upset becauase Tallulah, one of the girls, is really unwell. We had a bout of lice and worms just after Easter, which we cured (we think) with drops on the back of the neck (can't recall the name of the drug at the mo!). Tallulah had been worst affected and lost a fair few feathers from her bum/ belly, plus runny poo sticking to her feathers below the vent etc. We thought she was getting better - new feather growth and back to her perky, feisty ways. About three weeks ago we had a bit of scare with her getting chased round the garden by something (probably a baby fox). Pulled out most of the rest of her tail feathers and gave her a real fright. But there were no obvious signs of any injuries. She has not been quite right though, more poo stuck to feathers. Seems to have difficulty passing poo, abdomen is quite swollen. Started giving Flubenvet a week or so ago on grapes or bread, but she was not that interested and has been getting more withdrawn, not wanting to come out of Eglu. Her comb has gone floppy and paler. When I picked her up this evening, I found she has lost a lot of weight and she was quite feeble/listless. Usually she is very strong and will not be caught and picked up easily. Reading some of the forum entries, some of her symptoms might match with egg peritonitis or camplylobactor. But we are just not sure. Any advice would be very gratefully received. Thanks Rob, Hil, Ellie and Madeliene Pecks - , Maisy - , Tallulah -
Guest
does sound like peritonitis but you should take her to the vet as it's not something you can treat at home, she needs antibiotics asap.
Egluntyne
I would take her to the vet.
Eggy-Bread
I agree with the others - take her to the vet. If you can take along a poo sample (not easy I know) all the better. Good luck
